Gwen Flager
Playwright
Gwen Flager is a storyteller, who grew up in Louisiana and Alabama. Most of her stories have a Southern flavor and embrace strong unconventional and spirited women of this region. Waiting To Be Mended and Shakin' the Blue Flamingo, full length plays, have been produced in Houston, Texas, as well as her 10-minute plays, In Flight and Jornada del Muerto. Her plays have additionally been produced and/or presented in reading festivals in California, Kansas, Louisiana and Pennsylvania.
Highlights
Women need to tell their diverse and non-traditional stories. I tell the stories of women who maneuvered and managed the social stigma and prejudice of their sexual identities, flourished in their unconventional lives and shared their unflinching compassion for the broken.
