Jeffrey Neuman

Playwright

Jeffrey is an award-winning playwright whose work has been performed at theaters and festivals across the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. His plays have been produced and/or developed by Denver Center Theatre Company, LaMaMa, Emerging Artists Theatre Company, Paragon Theatre Company, National Public Radio, Stage Left, Edinburgh Fringe, FUSION Theatre Company, and the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Festival, among many others. His play, Exit Strategies, won The Edge Theatre's 2014 New Play Contest and went on to full production by the company in 2015, where it was warmly received with a Marlowe Award for "Best New Play" as well as a Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award nomination for "Best Original New Work." Jeffrey's first published script, Modern Goddesses: Two Short Plays of Mythic Proportions, is available for licensing and performance from JAC Publishing & Promotions.

 

In addition to his work as a playwright, Jeffrey has worked as a dramaturg for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the Athena Project Festival, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. He is an accredited academic who has presented professional papers on various topics in musical theater history for the Association for Theater in Higher Education, the American Alliance of Theatre Education, and the American Music Research Center. In 2009, his original research was acknowledged in and used as source material for the book Kander and Ebb, an installment in the Yale University Press Broadway Masters series. He is currently serving as the Director of Literary Development for Benchmark Theatre, where he has received two True West Awards for his "tireless commitment to community-building" for Front Range and Colorado theaters.
