Anita Gonzalez directs, devises and writes theatrical works. Her creative writings focus on telling women’s stories and histories. Recent works include the libretto Courthouse Bells to be produced by Boston Opera Collaborative in 2021-22. Zora on My Mind about Black women’s empowerment and Ybor City the Musical. Her academic books are Performance, Dance and Political Economy, Black Performance Theory, Afro-Mexico, and Jarocho’s Soul. She is a  Professor of Performing Arts/African American Studies at Georgetown University and co-Founder of their Racial Justice Institute. Gonzalez is a member of the National Theatre Conference and the Lincoln Center Director’s Lab.
